We pause at week’s end today to honor Jeffrey LaDow of Hales Corners, Wisconsin, who has been paralyzed since diving into the water when he was only 18.
He fought depression and his own situation with a paintbrush in his mouth.
“I don’t like giving up,” he said in an interview a year or so ago.
He said when he learned to paint by mouth, he could make a living for himself and live on his own, hiring his own caregivers. He could, he said, inspire others in similar situations.
He died this week of a bladder infection. He was 57.
